The Blaine County Sheriff's Office is eligible for funds through an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) 2010 Local Solicitation grant offered through the U.S. Department of Justice. Deadline for Application is June 30, 2010. The JAG program is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions. JAG funded projects aim to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of criminal justice systems, processes and procedures and support a broad range of activities to control crime based on local needs and conditions. JAG funds may be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, information systems for criminal justice, and criminal justice related research and evaluations activities that will improve or enhance law enforcement programs, prosecution, and court programs, prevention and programs, planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs, or crime victim and witness programs. Public comment on the application of the JAG grant by the Blaine County Sheriff's Office will be accepted at cnelson@co.blaine.id.us This matter will go before the Blaine County Board of Commissioners on June 22, 2010 for approval for the application process. |
