Arrest Made in Romanchuk Disappearance

The Blaine County Sheriff has announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the disappearance of Steve Michael Romanchuk, age 47, of Hailey, Idaho. On Wednesday, May 14, 2014 Keith Eric Blankenship, age 49, also of Hailey was arrested at the Blaine County Public Safety Facility on charges of Murder in the Second Degree at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Romanchuk was reported missing from his residence on January 15, 2014 at approximately 1900 hours by his wife Lauraine Phillips. At the time of his disappearance Romanchuk’s wallet with his identification, credit and bank cards were found inside his home. He did not take any additional clothing or camping gear with him. It was believed Romanchuk may have been traveling in his 1997 Chevy C/K 2500 Series 4x4 pickup truck with Idaho Contractor Plate number K486757. The truck was later located in the Sun Valley Lodge parking lot in February. His disappearance has been the subject of numerous searches, Statewide Attempts to Locate and a continuing investigation by the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office.
