On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at approximately 4:23 p.m. deputies from the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle non-injury crash on U.S. Highway 20 near Moonstone Landing.
The crash scene investigation determined that Emily M. Talbert, age 34 of Idaho Falls, was traveling westbound in a blue 2004 Nissan 350 on Hwy 20 when her vehicle left the roadway on the right shoulder, overcorrected crossing the west and eastbound lanes, and then left the roadway on the eastbound shoulder. Talbert’s vehicle traveled down an embankment and came to rest approximately 150 feet from the roadway. Talbert was charged with one count of Felony Driving Under the Influence, I.C. 18-8004, and one count of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, I.C. 37-2734 (a). Talbert has prior convictions for driving under the influence in 2011 and 2019. Talbert, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was wearing her seatbelt and declined medical assistance.
Talbert was arraigned in Blaine County Magistrate Court on Thursday, May 21, 2020, and later released from the Blaine County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated to be greater than $1500. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
