Courtesy of Wood River Fire and Rescue: WRFR units were dispatched to a wildland fire east of the Ohio Gulch Transfer Station at 1:25 PM. The first WRFR unit arrived on scene at 1:35 PM and reported a half acre fire and creeping.
Additional units were requested from North Blaine County, Sun Valley Fire, Ketchum Fire, Hailey Fire, and Bellevue Fire. South Central Dispatch was notified as the fire started on Blaine County land immediately adjacent to BLM property. The BLM sent multiple resources and requested air resources from Twin Falls and Pocatello. Unified Command was established with the BLM around 2:30 PM and the first SEAT made a retardant drop at 3 PM with the first VLAT at 3:10 PM. Approximately 40-45 firefighters helped fight the fire and resources will remain for several hours.
Initial estimates place the acreage at between 40-50 acres.

Previous Update 4:30 p.m.: A section of Ohio Gulch Rd. has been RE-OPENED to allow access to the Transfer Station and Winn Compost. The road remains closed where the pavement ends.

Original Post 2:00 pm: A new wildfire has been reported near Winn Compost and the Transfer Station at the end of Ohio Gulch Rd., north of Hailey, Idaho. Multiple fire crews are on the scene.
Please avoid the area and allow first responders to space to do their jobs.
Smoke from this fire is drifting over East Fork, Indian Creek, and other areas.
We will update this site if and when we get new information.
