On Monday, January 8, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision with injuries, lane blockage, and leakage at the intersection of Gannett Rd. and US. Highway 20, south of Bellevue, Idaho.
Crash scene investigation determined that a 2019 Ford F350 truck, owned by Idaho Power and driven by a 37-year-old male from Carey, Idaho, came to a stop on Gannett Rd. at the intersection, and then proceeded to pull onto Highway 20 to turn left in front of a 2018 gray Nissan Sentra driven by a 48-year-old male of Moore, Idaho. The truck failed to yield the right-of-way to the Nissan which was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.
There was scattered debris and vehicle fluid on the roadway near the area of impact. Both lanes were closed for a time, backing up traffic in both directions for evening commuters.
The truck sustained moderate damage, but the Nissan sustained substantial damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene of the crash. The driver of the Nissan was transported to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck was cited for Failure to Yield, I.C. 49-807.
